COURSE GOALThe Television Journalism course, comprising one year of full-time study, aims to give students a solid grounding for entering the profession as video reporters, entry-level journalists or staff trainees with camera and editing skills. Besides imparting basic theoretical knowledge, the curriculum lays particular emphasis on the acquisition of practical skills.
CURRICULUM
There are three areas of study:
- Television Journalism as the major subject encompassing
- all current TV formats from news to magazines to documentaries, both in theory and in practice
- interviewing and hosting exercises
- basic seminars on topics such as research, forms of journalistic presentation, narration...
- practical tuition in on-camera presentation
- several talk show production projects with VIP guests
- Production Techniques as first subsidiary subject covering
- camcorder skills
- lighting and sound
- video editing
- studio techniques
- video production
- seminars on picture composition and montage
- how to film and edit a simple short report unassisted
- Media Studies as second subsidiary subject imparting basic knowledge of
- programme management
- programme planning
- media research
- press law
- politics and the media
- ethics of journalism
