COURSE GOAL

     The Television Photography course gives basic training in professional camera technique, qualifying graduates for work as camera assistants, production engineers in reporting teams or studio cameramen/women. This is a one-year full-time course of study imparting both basic theory and practical skills. Detailed insight into the various functions of the camera, together with tuition in the fundamentals of video and sound recording, camerawork, picture composition and lighting, fully equip students for successful entry into their profession.


CURRICULUM

There are three areas of study:
  • Camera Technique and Picture Composition as the major subject encompassing
    • video and mobile sound recording techniques
    • photographic optics
    • lighting techniques
    • fundamentals of camerawork
    • picture composition
    • practical exercises with professional equipment
  • Television Engineering as first subsidiary subject covering
    • digital and analogue video recording
    • sound recording technologies
    • editing
    • studio technologies
  • Media Studies as second subsidiary subject imparting basic knowledge of
    • programme management
    • programme planning
    • politics and the media
    • press law
    • audience research
    • ethics of journalism
